Al-Hijrah began as a bold idea in the forgotten highlands of Ziarat, Balochistan: that poverty can be overcome not by charity—but through dignity, education, and leadership. Founded in 2002, Al-Hijrah Schools Trust created Pakistan’s first fully residential schooling model for rural children—now expanded to South Punjab and Sindh. The Al-Hijrah Education Foundation (AHEF), based in the UK, carries this mission forward globally. What began as one step in Ziarat is now a nationwide movement shaping future leaders from Pakistan’s most underserved communities.
